- Hazard
- The products have been identified as presenting a risk of injuries as it is possible for the stems to become loose or detach, which can cause the user to fall.
- The products do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
- Corrective action
- Consumers have been contacted by woom and/or the distributors of the products to warn them of the risks. Consumers will be provided with information directly on how to obtain a stem kit and instructions on how to repair the affected stems.
- Alternatively, consumers can take their product to any bicycle shop to have the stem inspected/serviced by a bicycle mechanic. Consumers are advised to retain their receipt and they will be reimbursed for this service up to the value of £20.
- The bicycle stem needs to be maintained over time (by the bike’s owner or a mechanic), just like any other bicycle component.
- Consumers in the UK must use the following email address to contact woom to arrange the delivery of their repair kit, or a repair at a dealer, if they have not yet been contacted: productsafetyEU@woom.com.
