What is the risk?
- The plastic suction cups contain di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) (measured value up to 7.4 % by weight) and dibutyl-phthalate (DBP) (measured value up to 0.25 % by weight). These phthalates may harm the health of children, causing possible damage to the reproductive system. The suction cups can also easily be detached from the projectiles. If a child puts the projectile in the mouth, the suction cup may detach and obstruct the airways. According to the REACH Regulation the phthalates DEHP and DBP are prohibited in all toys and childcare articles. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toy Safety Directive and the relevant European standard EN 71-1.
