Chair Seven “SEVEN NEW” — risk: injuries

Summary
The EU has issued a safety alert for certain chairs sold under the brand "Seven" due to a serious risk of injury from collapse. The chairs, which have a welded metal frame and upholstered seat and backrest made of chipboard, are not sufficiently resistant to load and can easily tip over. As a result, they do not comply with EU safety regulations and must be withdrawn from the market.
A Safety Gate alert means that national authorities found a serious or relevant risk and took measures. The same product may also be sold under other names or online.
Product
- Chairs with a welded metal frame, upholstered seat and backrest made of 10 mm thick chipboard that is attached to the frame with two M6 screws. The seat base is made of 15 mm thick chipboard and is attached to the frame with four screws (4.5 × 40) mm.
What is the risk?
- The chair is not sufficiently resistant to load. As a consequence, it can easily collapse, the user fall and suffer injuries. The product does not comply with the General Product Safety Regulation.
