- The product presents a high risk of fire as it is incorrectly labelled as being suitable for zone 2 areas. It is not sufficiently robust for use in zone 2 areas. If used in these areas, they may fail, potentially resulting in explosions and fire.
- The product does not meet the requirements of The Equipment and Protective Systems Intended for Use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2016 (ATEX).
- Corrective action
- The manufacturer is working with users to determine which of the following is appropriate for their site:
- Replace the existing OLE gauge, which was incorrectly labelled as being suitable for zone 2, with a new Ex certified version which is suitable for use in zone 2.
- Relocate 22 OLE gauge control/display units, which were incorrectly labelled as being suitable for zone 2, to a safe zone.
- Change the gauge control/display unit face label so it no longer says that it’s suitable for installation in zone 2 – NB. This is only possible if the unit is already located in a safe zone.
