- The affected golf cars present a risk of injuries as the cable brake is incorrectly routed meaning there is a sharp bend which creates a stress point. As a result, the cable brake could fail unexpectedly whilst in use and the user may not be able to stop the vehicle as intended.
- The affected products do not meet the requirements of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008.
- Corrective action
- Recall of the product from end users. Yamaha have launched a modification programme to inspect and replace the brake cable.
- Consumers who own an affected golf car should contact their local Authorised Yamaha Dealer, quoting the machine’s chassis number to arrange a convenient appointment for the necessary work to be carried out by a Yamaha trained technician.
