- Hansan antibacterial hand sanitisers containing propan-2-ol alcohol as the active ingredient have been identified as not containing sufficient concentrations deemed to be effective to sanitise.
- The product contains an insufficient amount of isopropyl (measured values: 17.3%-56.1% v/v) which is less than the WHO recommended minimum and presents a serious risk to health, as bacteria or viruses are not killed and can subsequently infect the user.
- Additionally, the presence of alcohol is not accompanied by the appropriate hazard pictograms and warnings.
- The product therefore does not meet the requirements of the Biocidal Product Regulations 2013 or the European Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures as amended and retained in GB.
- Corrective action
- The authority are requiring the recall of the product from end users.
