- The product has been assessed as presenting a serious risk of drowning. The product was advertised as a life jacket, but once purchased was identified as a buoyancy aid (which does not provide the same level of protection).
- When tested, the product did not meet the level of buoyancy required of a buoyancy aid, and therefore may not have performed as expected when relied upon.
- The product also requires improvements to marking, labelling and documentation.
- The product does not meet the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on Personal Protective Equipment or the Personal Protective Equipment (Enforcement) Regulations 2018.
- Corrective action
- OPSS has required that the products are recalled from end users.
- Owners are advised to cease use of the product and contact the distributor they purchased from to request redress.
